Summer Time Mosquito Control

June 3, 2021
  • “Summertime... And the livin’ is easy…” Don’t you just love that song? It’s the perfect Sunday BBQ song. Hotdogs and burgers on the grill.  The sound of music and laughter floating through the air? Can’t you just hear it? Do you know what else you hear? Mosquitos. Bloodsucking, larvae laying mosquitos.  Your BBQ is their mecca, and your carbon dioxide exhaling guests are like their siren’s call.

  • A mosquito bites someone in a yard
  • A father and his son pose as superheroes in the yard
  • But it’s OK. This is your year. You’re gonna be prepared this time. You’re going to treat your space for pests.  Yours will be the yard that brings Peace to the BBQ. This is the year, thou shalt not itch!

Mosquito & Bug Repellants

Natural Repellant Techniques

We all know candles, lanterns, and herbal sprays repel mosquitoes but don’t forget to get rid of all their breeding grounds.

  • Drain any standing water in toys, planters, and containers around your space.
  • Change the water in birdbaths, fountains, and rain barrels at least once a week or use Mosquito Dunks to kill mosquito larvae for up to 30 days.
  • Make sure your swimming pool water is always treated and circulating.

There are also natural repellent devices you can use to clear patio spaces of all sizes mosquito-free.

Mosquito Repelling Plants

Did you know that you could use plants not only to beautify your yard but also create an invisible wall mosquitos will want to avoid? Here’s a list of a few to get your next hedge started.

  • Lavender
  • Citronella
  • Rosemary
  • Marigolds

Backyard Insecticides

There are many options when you’re looking at bug-repelling yard sprays. So look for options that are made from herb oils for options that will be safe for pets, kiddos, and local wildlife.
